Paddy

P.S - Its not an easy task for me to type on english keyboard to get the correct Marathi words. What all it need is a practice! Hope I will be getting there soon. Appreciate the latest technology which is making most of the things possible.
good day
cheers

I remember watching on BBC, a programme on Himalayas by Michael Palin. I also knew about Michael Palin’s exemplary work was published and the book’s title is Himalaya. I was lucky to find this book in city’s shopping market and did not miss an opportunity to buy it. Guys! I am now on the journey of Himalayas. (Through this book).

Winter here in Perth is on peak now as Perth city and surroundings experiencing the coldest weather in the recent times. Reverse cycle air conditioners are on providing enough heat in each of the room. Some are using gas or oil heaters to beat the cold. For those who are keen to know little more on the reverse cycle air conditioner’s functionality, please visit to the following links

Let me know how many of you are aware of the fruit known as “Fuyu”. Jyoti came to know about this fruit from one of her friend and we being always experimental, bought few ones from supermarket. I was amazed to taste this fruit. Awesome! Try and you will love its taste. It looks like tomato and the taste lingers on for a while even after you finish eating.  I have done some search on the Internet to find out more on this fruit. Here is the quick link for the reference.

My last post was published two months back. I  do not have  the excuses in my pocket to defend as why I failed to  write a new one . The real fact is, my time management skills need an improvement . I am seriously looking into this and trying my best to improve on it.  Walking on Sydney harbour bridge was an awesome experience for us ( myself and Jyoti). See picture above.  We decided to celebrate our marriage anniversary by climbing the bridge. It was really climb of the life.

Complete bridge is a steel structure and of riveted construction. Approximately 6 million rivets are in place. It took 1437 steps for us to reach the top of the bridge.   I have gathered this information from our climb team leader.

FIFA 2010 world cup is in full swing.  My interest as well as knowledge in soccer is limited but still I enjoy watching the FIFA  world cup matches.  A match between Socceroos and Ghana watched  live on SBS channel yesterday. Australian Foot ball team also called as Socceroos.

It was on my plan. To list all the places where I visited at least once. Below is the list and I am hopeful the same will keep on growing. Every place that I have visited until today has its own identity and uniqueness.  I can very well say that It was just awesome to be there

I was able to complete the third semester EMBA assignments by yesterday. I could manage to finish them though it was late.

It was great fun to play beach volleyball with my colleagues  on  last Friday. It was a part of team building exercise. I never played it before but still could manage to hit the ball back in opponent's court. It was real fun.   We finished our  team building exercise with a barbecue dinner.

It came on first day of the week i.e. Monday evening. It was there for almost an hour. It came with hailstones leaving too many dents on cars. Yes! It’s a storm, which hit Perth very badly. Perth was out of gear as rainwater was logged in low-lying areas. This has also thrown traffic out of gear. I was in receipt of above pictures taken during or after storm. These are forwarded ones and I received it from a friend. Jyoti and myself started early on that day and reached home safely, totally wet, as both of us were not prepared to face the storm. Also refer the news coverage in below link

Last four weeks were extremely busy at office and home. I was trying to balance the life, home and work and while doing the same, realised that how difficult is this. But it’s all right even if you miss few of scheduled commitments. After all a human being cannot be a superman, isn’t it?

IPL –3 is in full swing. Channel One in Australia broadcasting these matches live. I watched few of them until now. I am not a big follower of the IPL, However, I support Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Those who are keen on knowing what is IPL, please refer to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Premier_League
The most interesting part of IPL is that it has developed huge interest among those who never used to watch this game. Jyoti is one of them. I remember she always used to compel me to change the TV channel whenever cricket channel is ON and now she is a follower of Mumbai Indians and hardly missed to watch their matches.

This year once again Jyoti and myself joined Earth Hour campaign by switching off all lights at home for an hour. We are extremely happy to be a part of it and we will try our best continuing doing so.

cheers

During my visit to Abudhabi, I was lucky enough to sight a jackup rig near the shore. Above is the picture of the same. For those who are not familiar with "Jackup rig". please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackup_rig.

Jyoti's mummy and Pappa are here on a tour to Australia. Last weekend, we all went to Fremantle. Fremantle is a town which is 30 minutes drive from Perth. Good place for a one day picnic. Fremantle market was main attraction of all.

Potted garden in our backyard is slowly growing. Hibiscus plant is a new addition to it. Expecting first flower on it very soon.

Pune Blast - When I read the news, somewhere in the corner of my mind, one question popped out, with such incidents happening everywhere where we all are heading towards? I was upset. I am not an expert or analyst but at least have an opinion that solution should be worked out so that such incidents can be prevented in the future. My deep condolences with all of those who have suffered a great loss in this blast.

I will be working for Transfield Worley(here after "TW") from Monday onwards. This time the work will be more on brownfield projects. Visit http://www.transfield-worley.com.au/ for more details.

I am happy to share a good news which Sauarabh mailed us today. Hamari Library is now a registered society in India. This is a one big step which will help us in spreading the message of education in a more organized way. Hamari Library is aiming to develop educational and knowledge based libraries across India. Hamari Library's motto is ‘Education for all and all for education’. Our vision is to provide the much needed basic education to the needy children. For those who are keen to know more about this project, please do write us and our e-mail id is hamari.library @ gmail.com.

I took off from Perth airport on 12/12/09 and reached Mumbai in the early hours of 13/12/09. My journey was quite tiring as usual. My last India visit was almost 18 months back. Though I was tired but was very happy to be in India.

I did not spend much of time in Mumbai and I rushed to Bhopal. Train journey from Kurla Terminus to Bhopal was good. This was my second visit to Bhopal and was more for 7avenues www.7avenues.com This visit really helped me to understand some of the hard facts of agricultural sector in India. One to One discussions with experts like Mukesh Gaur, Sanjay Saxena was really fruitful. A night at Machhan with all friends was a thriller. I can't forget the taste of wood fired chicken ( barbecue) had there.

My EMBA exams were scheduled in between 3/01/2010 ~ 09/01/2010 and exam centre was Abudhabi. I landed in Abudhabi on 25/12/2010. 2 weeks in Abudhabi were very busy as I have spent much of time in study. 18 years back in April 1992, I finished my engineering and since then never went for any written exams. I was bit nervous on my first exam day. My main concern was writing speed, fortunately I could manage to complete my exams and now hoping for good results which will be declared soon.

Watching 3idiots in Abudhabi with Sheetal and Amit and then with Jyoti in Perth was a great experience. Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are my all time favourites from Bollywood cinema. Truly inspirational personalities. Congratulations to Aamir Khan for his Padma Bhushan award.

Returning to Perth from Mumbai on 15/01/2010 was more emotional, the reason was I could spend only 1-2 weeks with my mother.

Work on Hamari Library is moving at slow pace. Saurabh Nair has joined our team and we all welcome him to be a part of Hamari Library group.
Our Hamari Library blog is now available and its URL is http://hamarilibrary.wordpress.com/ Thanks to Sauarbh for creating this blog.

Whale Encounter -Fremantle in WA

Watch this video clip. Its awesome. This was taken on November 15, 2009 during our visit to Fremantle coast - 20 minutes drive from Perth in Western Australia. We were lucky to see humpback whales on their migration. It was really fantastic and life time experience.

I was chatting with one of my friend in USA couple of weeks back and she was wondering as how I get time to write blogs in the busy schedule. I just listened to her and opted not to comment. The reason is quite simple. I am not really that busy unlike others. The term workaholic does not suit me. In fact, I would love to be workaholic. There are several plans in my mind to keep myself busy but very few of them have come on paper and only one or two are executed.
I took a challenge of per suing education. Enrolled myself in distance learning programme EMBA( Executive MBA) in Oil and gas offered by University of Petroleum and Energy Studies - Gurgaon, India. Its testing time!! Exams are scheduled in January 2010 and I am putting my best efforts here. Imagine! I will be entering the exam hall almost after 18 years. My last appearance was during final year of engineering. That was in 1992.
I am not a regular blog writer but whenever I write, it gives me an immense pleasure of expressing myself. Putting my thoughts in words. Oh! what I feeling. Its good to express it rather than hiding it all the way inside your mind.
Indian Oil's depot caught fire. Oil and gas plays a vital role in human being's day to day life. It has brought lots of comforts but at the same time this has to be handled with utmost safety.

Pooja at Home in Perth dated 22nd August 2009

ciao again
Padmakar(Paddy)

On 22nd August 2009, we performed Satyanarayana Pooja at our home in Perth. Myself and Jyoti were planning for this pooja since long time. and we were happy that finally we could perform the pooja. Some of our friends joined this pooja at our home.
We also planned to have potted garden in our back yard and started working on it. Getting pots, potting mix, shubs and plants of our choice were on the agenda. Bunnings in Cannigton was the the choice to get all this stuff. Visit http://www.bunnings.com.au/ for more details. Plan kicked off and we have , jasmine, royal palm tree planted in medium sized pots, marigold flower, mint , Asian green chilly were planted in standard size pots.
Work on Hamari Library is moving at slower pace. We could manage to raise the Rs 31000/- for Kartavya library funding. Still long way to go. if you are keen on helping for this noble cause please do drop an e-mail on hamari.library@gmail.com
One can experience a great spirit of Mumbai during the 10 days of festival as everyone in the city worships lord Ganesh with great spirit. Myself and Jyoti always keep remembering as how we use to enjoy during this festival when we were young kids and also even after we moved to Bangalore never missed to visit Mumbai during the festival.

It was raining in Perth for the entire last week. Intermittent heavy showers and cloudy weather brought the overall temperature further down over the entire week.

Neelu Phule - Famous Marathi stage as well as cinema artist passed away. I have seen his Marathi films in the past. He was truly fantastic and talented artist. He had played various characters on stage as well as in films. He was the best in negative character roles.

England won the Lords Cricket Test. Andrew Flintoff was superb however I liked Michael Clarke's batting. It was superb and awesome but could not save the test.

At last! we could transfer funds to Kartavya for their HL(Hamari Library) project. Thanks to Vivek Saxena for providing timely help in transferring money to kartavya. Those who need to know more about kartavya please do visit the following website as well as you tube link.

Michael Jackson created a history in the world of pop music.I do listen pop music but not to that great extent. Michale Jackson's magic on every single person who keeps interest in music was terrific. I still remember during 90's how young guys and girls in India used to go bonkers on his music and albums. My favourite is "Liberian girl: from his "Bad" Album. He was truly genius and awesome.

That's the youtube link for Liberian girl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlIWtjjda9g

Work progress on our Hamari Library project is extremely slower than expected. This is really disturbing me. I am trying to keep up the momentum with other team members and hopefully we will pick up the pace on the same soon.

Ashes series in England is a treat for all cricket fans. Aussies are doing well in their first innings. Ricky Ponting's 150 was brilliant and nice to watch on it on high definition channel.

This weekend was once again busy with tons of work at home. My car has gone without cleaning for more than a month now. I need to clean it up on high priority basis. Planned for tomorrow.

ciao
