Last day of the Year 2008

Next 6 hours and year 2008 will be in the history books. ( This is based on Perth- Australia Time). 2008 was a year of mixed events, happier as well as sad ones. One should leave the sad moments and go ahead with positive frame of mind to welcome 2009.
Personally, 2008 was a good year for me and Jyoti. We spent a good time in Kuala lumpur and now continuing to do so in Perth. Year 2008 has broaden our social network. On career front, I enjoyed working with rnz sdn bhd (www.rnzgroup.com). and at the same time was happy to back with my previous employer WorleyParsons (www.worleyparsons.com). Few personal setbacks but still it was a fantastic year for me and Jyoti.
"Hamari Library" our charity programme/project for underprivileged children was kicked off in 2008. Thanks to all friends who directly and indirectly helped to make this project successful. Refer links below for more information. Thanks to nanhi kali and naandi organisation for their support to turn this project into reality.
If you want to be a part of this programme, do drop me a mail or leave your comment on this blog.
There's nothing special we have planned for today i.e 31st December 08. We opted to stay at home and enjoy TV programmes with a nice dinner. We probably will watch fire works
I read information regarding usage of paper in my office. This was glued in front of the printers. I roughly remember, it takes 12 trees to make 22000 paper sheets*. This made me to think twice before taking a print. Do I really need it? I reckon now the time has come to think seriously on saving trees and green cover. This will be a good resolution for the year 2009.
' Before printing a paper, ask yourself do I really need it? - I am sure this will help in saving trees by some means.
(* Data specified above is directly picked from the bulletin and no justification was given on how this has been arrived. However, the essence of the information is one should limit the paper usage which automatically help in saving nature.)
"Wishing you a very happy new year 2009"
ciao in next year

I have decided not to put day numbers and date from today onwards. As there's a likelihood that I will be publishing post once every alternate day or in a week.
After 5 days of break, I resumed office today. It was very quiet in office as Christmas and New year official break is still ON.
I have tasted non vegetarian dish first time when I was in my engineering school. In a hostel mess, caterer used to serve non vegetarian dish once a week i.e on Sunday. During those days my knowledge of non vegetarian cuisine was limited to chicken curry and eggs only. As days passed, I started liking non vegetarian food and over the period of time my taste buds were well developed to cope up with variety of non vegetarian cuisine. Today my favourites are Thai and Chinese dishes. I will never forget Korean cuisine which I had in Kuala Lumpur with a traditional Korean liquor - Soju. Simply awesome.
Stunning performance from South African cricket team in Melbourne cricket test match.(Dec 26-30 2008 MCG) Jean-Paul Duminy was fantastic with his bat while Dale Steyn done a fantastic job with bat as well as ball. I reckon these duo brought South Africa very close to victory.

Ciao again

Day 5, December 27 2008

Holidays are still on here and will continue until January 5, 2009. I have work to do and will resume office on 29 December until 31st December 08.

As usual, I was reading reading the newspapers in the morning. I found one news which is worth to mention. This was regarding only Indian citizens can represent country. This is more towards sports sector. Please read the link below for more information.

I and Jyoti had a discussion on the above topic and it sounds reasonable and logical to us.

I have already mentioned about gardening experiences in my previous post. Today, I really struggled to operate water sprinkler station (this is fixed in front of my house). This station provides water to all garden. Jyoti and I could figure out the logic behind it and now its up and running.

ciao

Boxing Day

Day 4 26 December 2008

I was always curious to know why Dec 26 is called as Boxing day. Those who are keen to know about the history of the same, please follow one of the below links and also browse through wikipida for more information.

Boxing day cricket test match at Melbourne is always pack of joy for all cricket fans. This time it was no different. Ricky Ponting's splendid performance with bat against South Africa was fantastic. He scored a century (100 runs) and I enjoyed watching it.

In the evening I and Jyoti were at my friend's place -Rajeev Chaudhari. We also visited Temple in Cannig vale suburb of Perth City.

I do browse the Internet regularly but my browsing is very limited and it revolves around newspapers, current affairs and few ones related to my work which is purely engineering and technical. I am just trying to catch up the skill which will help me to extract more useful information.

Season's Greetings +++

Day 3 25 December 2008
Wishing you and your family Merry X Mas.
Its a pretty warm day here in Perth. Hope everyone at home enjoying the festive season as well as holidays.
I am staying in a rented property here in Perth which has a nice backyard and lovely front area wherein property owner has developed a nice garden. Being the tenant of this property it becomes our duty to maintain it. In the last 2 months,I have realised that maintaining garden is big and daunting task especially for a person like me who had never done it before. Its a good experience for me to learn more on how to maintain it. I spend at least 2-3 hours in a week in my backyard and front area to make this garden a cleaner and greener.
Watching Bollywood movie on a holiday is a fun. I pulled a CD bag from TV cabinet and played all time fantastic movie "Chupke Chupke" starring Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, Sharmila Tagore and Omprakash.... Nice to watch this light comedy.
I have adjusted my blog settings yesterday. This will allow readers and members of this blog to comment if any.
I am following Mr. Amitabh Bachchan's Blog regularly.I found its quite informative, one can visit his blog on http://bigb.bigadda.com/.

Christmas Fever

Day 2, 24 December 2008

Christmas fever in Perth is at its peak. People are shopping and enjoying their holidays. I am at home and watching TV and getting updates. The whole day spent in domestic work and there's a likelihood that I and Jyoti will plan to visit few shops and malls in the CBD( Central Business District) area on Christmas day.

Reading a good book was always on my agenda. Last one was Sudha Murthy's " Wise & Otherwise" It was Marathi version. Now I picked up M.Gandhi's " My experiments with Truth" I am not sure how much time I will take to finish it but surely its one of those books which I always wanted to have in my collection. Thanks to Jyoti, she spotted this book in one of shopping complexes in Kuala Lumpur ( Tesco in Ampang - KL Malaysia) and insisted to buy the same

ciao again.

Today I and Jyoti were at Matilda bay to attend Christmas BBQ. This was organised by my company and we had a fun and great time for almost half day. please visit http://www.westernaustralia.com/en/Pages/Attraction.aspx?n=Matilda_Bay_Reserve&pid=9008243 for more details on Matilda Bay.

Great Holiday season is waiting for us here, starting tomorrow. This will continue until next year Jan 05. We have some good and great plans ahead for this fantastic season.
